Maxwell Volume's Notes from a Parallel Dementia

Synthtember No.12 "Air Festivities I"

A break in the early summer heat with cool air, mist and drizzle. More than a little influence from a certain beardy Greek synthesizer musician who is sadly no longer with us.

Synthtember No.11 "Möbiuzaki"

Is it my imagination, or is Mœbius aka Jean Giraud having a bit of a moment? I've seen quite a few instances of people being very explicitly influenced by his art style. And not before time! Not coincidentally, we watched the first episode of Scavengers Reign tonight – an example of the above, as well as a healthy dose of Miyazakiesque fantastique. Very nice.

Synthtember No.10 "Arkadia"

Feeling a bit woozy, possibly teetering on the edge of coming down with my son's recent stomach ailment. A bit of FM synthesis is in order.

Synthtember No.9 "Sunshower"

With a mighty effort I clawed myself temporarily free of a monumental weariness to record this, which I suspect may go on to become An Actual Song.

Synthtember No.8 "Will There Be Wardrobes in the Future?"

Thinking a track is going to go in one direction, but it turns out to have a navigational mind of its own.

Synthtember No.7 "Meeple"

Starts off wild and woolly but gradually attains a kind of psychedelic equilibrium by the half-way mark.

Synthtember No.6 "Doughnut"

Patching modular synthesizers, following a game of Carcassonne with my son. There is a common thread.

Synthtember No.5 "I Stopped Trying and It Worked"

I started tonight's synthesizer session with a pretty up-beat, get up and go track, so much so, that it got up and left. Following that possibly fortunate incident, I suddenly came over all #ambient and this is the result.

In tonight's episode of Collapsing Under It's Own Weight, it's Synthtember No.4 “Isaac Asimov's Sideburns”.

Synthtember 3 "Mother Chorizo"

Tonight's long-form, psychedelic and hypnotic synthtember synthesizer improvisation: “Mother Chorizo” ... I can hear echoes of Tangerine Dream and Future Sound of London.
